Techniques
Urja utilizes various techniques to harmonize the body’s nine energy systems for optimal resilience, joy, and wellbeing.

Five Rhythms
Energy is always shifting and moving; it is the way of life. If we get stuck at any stage on the wheel, we create blockages in our life, sometimes resulting in health issues. Using movement as a medicinal tool, moving through the five elements can be a therapy for staying healthy within our physical, emotional and spiritual being.
Neurovascular Points
Neurovascular points were discovered in the 1930’s by Terrance Bennett, DC. These reflexes are primarily on the head and are neurological switches which activate blood flow to the muscles and related organs and glands.
Bennett injected radioactive dye into people while holding various points on their head. He would then look through a fluoroscope, similar to an x-ray machine, to see which areas of the body the blood flowed to. He noticed that touching different areas encouraged blood flow to different places. Some points made more blood flow to the stomach, others to the pelvic region and some to the liver. He mapped out all of the neurovascular points through his research.
When we are stressed, the amygdala in our brain triggers our glands to pump the hormone epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, throughout our bloodstream. We go into stress mode, we experience vasoconstriction to our brain, which makes it very difficult to process emotional stress. This simple technique can help restore vascular blood flow, allowing you to successfully process challenging emotions.

Meridians
The meridian healing system originates in Chinese Medicine and is the pathways of qi (chi) and blood flow through the body. Qi flows continuously from one meridian to another. Any break in the flow is an indication of imbalance and can make a person vulnerable to disease.
Restoring the qi to its optimal flow is the ultimate goal in restoring overall health and well-being to an individual. Practitioners assist clients in repairing dysfunctional areas within their meridian systems as a means to restore a natural balance by utilizing various healing methods.
Reflexology
Energy Healing proposes that body parts can communicate using electromagnetic fields, and this communication can become blocked or congested. During a reflexology session, pressure and stimulation are applied to these points to improve blood and energy circulation, give a sense of relaxation, and maintain homeostasis (bodily systems remaining stable as they adjust to
changing conditions). Reflexology may restore energy flow and open these blockages, possibly by breaking up lactic acid crystals stored in the feet and there’s some evidence that reflexology may help with the following:
• Pain reduction
• Relaxation
• Mood elevation
• Stress relief
• Improvement in feelings of anxiety
• Improved sleep
